WE ENGAGE!
On June 24, 2022, life across America changed. A new era emerged. Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization changed everything. Mississippi did that, with help from their Christian Nationalist friends with deep pockets.
Decades of people looking away from the terror and lies spread by the “good Christians” on the sidewalks at abortion clinics and elsewhere has gotten here. Here where people have fewer rights. Here where Christian Nationalists have been elevated to the highest offices, and not just in Mississippi.
Unfortunately, our culture bought what these religious zealots were selling - stigma, shame and guilt about abortion. People wouldn’t say abortion out loud, still don’t, and that includes those “pro-choice” “supporters”. And now, those same “good Christians” are in power at the highest levels of our government. And trust - they were never “pro-life” only “pro-control” of people’s lives.
The state of Mississippi was used to take down Roe v. Wade; the rights we relied on have been taken. Ask someone how this happened, and more than likely, they have no idea - no clue about all the right-wing organizations that have been working against them for decades. The clinic where Dobbs came from, Jackson Women’s Health Organization, fought back against these forces for years.
We Engage STILL BELIEVES IN ENGAGEMENT. We can’t keep doing the same things, and expect a better result. Countering these people is more important than ever. We encourage and equip people to speak up in support of safe legal abortion, bodily autonomy for all people, and pushing back on the Christian Nationalist agenda that grew stronger outside clinics.
We Engage encourages people to speak back and use smart, responsible engagement with anti-abortion demonstrators, Christian Nationalists outside clinics and elsewhere, offers tips and education about encountering these clinic harassers, counters anti-abortion propaganda, and in the process fights for our right to control our bodies, the univeral human right to not just survive but to thrive.
