So, What Is 2363.org?

What is 2363.org? It’s a website and organization pushed by LiveAction, a VERY well-funded anti-abortion group, headed by failed actress Lila Rose. The 2363 webpage says abortion is murder.

So where did this number 2363 come from? There were 2,363 abortions performed everyday in America in 2017 per statistics from the Guttmacher Institute. The number 2363 is gotten by dividing the total annual number of abortions - 862,320 - by the 365 days of the year. LiveAction has taken this number and with their plentiful funding, created a new outlet for their anti-abortion narrative full of inaccurate characterizations and straight up lies.

The U.S. population in 2017 was 350 million people. 350 million people in America, and there were 862,320 abortions. Again, per Guttmacher, “The 2017 rate of 13.5 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15–44 is the lowest recorded since abortion was legalized nationally in 1973 and is 54% lower than the peak rate of 29.3 per 1,000 in 1980.”

LiveAction partners with people like David Daleiden, who attempted to smear Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation with misleadingly edited videos. With their spread of lies about abortion and abortion providers, LiveAction incites violence against patients, providers and escorts everyday with their false narrative of “murdering babies.” For example, in 2015 Robert Dear Jr. attacked a clinic in Colorado Springs, CO, yelling “no more baby parts,” referring to Daleiden’s videos.

LiveAction brought their dog and pony show to grandstand at the Pinkhouse on October 29, 2021. They brought their money, their staff, their billboards, their billboard truck and 25 whole supporters to do a projection on the clinic and have a “prayer vigil.”

LiveAction has definitely put their money on pushing this platform of lies. There has been a huge LiveAction campaign – billboards, social media campaigns, public events – to launch this additional platform from which to spread their lies. Not that anyone should give them web traffic, but check the site – so much money went into it, all the videos, “resources”, etc.

This event was just another instance of their weaponizing religion. Prayer vigil for what? For other peoples’ healthcare, which is what abortion is? No, they are praying for the “murdered children” – very public grandstanding to push the harmful propaganda that abortion is murder. They know prayer vigils are sympathetic events, yet the whole production serves to push a dangerous narrative that abortion kills children, vilifying patients and providers.

The Pinkhouse Defenders counter-protested the LiveAction event. We Engage founder Derenda Hancock was interviewed by local news and she put it quite plainly – this isn’t just about abortion, and we will stand up for our human rights.

And had We Engage and the Pinkhouse Defenders done nothing and NOT protested their unwelcome presence, the media would have told only one story – the LiveAction story, full of lies and propaganda. No other voice would have been heard.

Because we were there and made our presence known, we also countered their message in the media. So often these people and groups are given an open, unchallenged platform in the media in these circumstances, because no one challenges them. This needs to change.

We CAN make a difference. With more engagement from the public and supporters, informed by people that are on the ground everyday at clinics, we can push back against the dangerous lies and propaganda of the well-funded anti-abortion propaganda machines.

Engagement matters.
