Access During Covid
"Access: A podcast about abortion" is a great source of information about abortion and abortion access. Derenda Hancock and Kim Gibson of We Engage took part in the November podcast, along with some great providers and defenders from around the country.
Host Garnet Henderson talked to defenders from Charlotte for Choice, clinic owners Calla Hales of North Carolina and Lara Chelian of Michigan, along with clinic escorts Steph Black of Washington DC, and Elena Salisbury of Nebraska and L & S in New Jersey.
The discussion is about anti-abortion protesters and their “antics” during the pandemic. Everyone shares what is happening where they are, and their stories are something everyone should hear. Anti activities run the gamut from not wearing masks or social distancing, to screaming about George Floyd, to blockading clinics and showing up at clinics armed.
Accessing the clinic is already hard enough, and it has just gotten more and more difficult. But escorts, defenders, and clinics are still here for patients - because abortion is healthcare. And no one should have face harassment from their car door to the clinic door to reach a doctor's office.
Let’s change that. Check out the podcast, share it, and let folks know what’s up, and that what is happening out here is not ok.
