A new Texas law that targets pregnant people, their support networks, and providers goes into effect the same day as a new open carry law. What could possibly go wrong?

On a larger scale - we are ALL Texas. The law that was passed is the height of abortion exceptionalism, singling out pregnant people, their supporters and providers for legal harassment. This law, SB8, and the subsequent legal maneuvers by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States undermines the rule of law FOR ALL PEOPLE.

Every American is affected by this law, not just people in Texas. This article by Andrew Seidel spells it out well.

People without bodily autonomy are not free.

Today it is Texas...tomorrow, they will be passing these sorts of laws across the country. Florida has already announced they intend to emulate Texas and subjugate half the population.
