We still have so much that we haven’t shared from Oklahoma, we may still share a few things we learned and saw, but we wanted to say thank you to everyone who joined us in making this effort happen.

Our presence in Oklahoma would have been impossible without the amazing local folks on the ground - Susan Braselton, organizer of the Peaceful Presence Escorts powered by Roe Fund, and Mark Faulk of Red State Revolt. Through them, we reached out to a lot of groups and a lot of people, and we appreciate their hard work more than we can express. And we learned a LOT about the reproductive justice and rights landscape in Oklahoma in organizing this event. A LOT.

We also want to thank the incomparable former Oklahoma state Senator Connie Johnson District 48 Oklahoma, director of the OK Medical Marijuana Authority. Connie was the only legislator that we contacted that made the time to attend. We have things to say about that…another time…

We also appreciate the support of Alex Newman of Oklahoma Atheists and Tim Ward, American Atheists OK Director for their support. We are so grateful to all of “the home team” for all their hard work!

And Kim, Derenda and James were excited to reunite with Pinkhouse Defender Shayne Pickett (currently living in Dallas). And Shayne’s companion, Leah Westgate did an amazing job as a Handmaid, especially since this was her first time participating in this type of event.

We would like to thank Roz Tobin Creed, Karen Chapin Musick and Ali Taylor of the Arkansas Abortion Support Network from Little Rock, Arkansas; Michelle Love-Davis and Claressa Dalloway of Feminist Flag Corps from Columbus, Ohio; Avery Heflin, Lauryn Clark and Skyler, clinic escorts from Alabama Women’s Center in Huntsville, Alabama. We also would like to thank everyone that suited up as a Handmaid; it wasn’t easy. These incredible folks gave their time and energy and traveled great distances to stand up for the rights of Oklahomans against these anti-abortion religious extremists who are trying to legislate their religious beliefs to override medical professionals and control pregnant people.

This was our first event outside of Mississippi. We learned a lot about the challenges of putting together an event remotely. The lessons we learned will serve us well in the future. The antis had “homefield advantage”, but we came to their field and represented for the pro-choice “team”. We may have been a small team, but we got the job done! We engaged antis at their very public event to let them know we will not allow their extremist agenda to go unchallenged, and the media reported to the public that there was a pro-choice presence rallying support for the right to safe, legal abortion.

To all who joined us and all who supported our efforts, we are eternally grateful. Thank you all so much for your time and efforts, they are so appreciated and so important. Until we meet again – our best to you all!
