Black Lives Matter
We Engage is founded on the belief that in order to bring about change, there must be engagement. Action must be taken in order to make change.
We Engage joins with those mourning George Floyd, David McAtee, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all other black victims murdered at the hands of police and we stand with those who have suffered police brutality and senseless racist violence. We stand in solidarity with those demanding answers and a better way forward.
If you aren’t actively engaging to dismantle the systemic white supremacy inherent in our culture, you are working with it. Systemic racism touches all things and is deeply entrenched.
We cannot demand of others that which we do not demand of ourselves.
We Engage is committed to listening to and to centering black voices, and to doing the work necessary to dismantle anti-black constructs within our culture.
We Engage, as an organization that works in the spectrum of reproductive justice, is committed to those precepts of reproductive justice laid out by black organizers, and we will work to ensure there is equity in our organization and will work to dismantle white supremacy wherever it may be found.
Change starts with acknowledgment, then real changes come with engagement.
Black lives matter. Engagement matters.
Let’s engage and make real, meaningful change happen.
