Times Change...

It’s been a little over a year since the Dobbs ruling closed Jackson Women’s Health Organization aka “the Pink House.” We Engage was started by the Pink House clinic defenders in 2019 with the mission of assisting patients, encouraging responsible engagement against anti-abortion zealots wherever they are, and showing people what clinic patients must suffer getting abortion care in America.

Well, we can see that pushback against antis has increased across the country, and a lot of people worldwide have learned what happens outside clinics.

But we no longer have patients to assist or a clinic to defend. We Engage wanted to end the need for escorts and defenders, because care had been destigmatized, not because abortion care was banned.

We are clinic escorts and defenders first and foremost, or we WERE. We still are at heart. But we also know circumstances change, so We Engage is now on hiatus.

The Pink House Defenders social media will still be active and have updates. The We Engage website will still be up if you need information to find care or want information about responsible engagement.

If we find a sustainable way to move forward, we will blog it here and post it on the We Engage socials and on the Pink House Defenders pages.

We see all the suffering the Dobbs ruling has brought and wish we could do more to help end it. We Engage would like to thank everyone for their support through these tough years and we send our love and support to providers and to our fellow escorts and defenders.

On the clinic’s last day, someone left this poem hanging on the clinic gate as the day came to an end.

And the choices get tougher. And fewer.
